We Are Only Critical; Not Enemies- Kofi Asare

Mr. Kofi Asare, the Executive Director of Africa Educational Watch (EduWatch) has asserted that, they are not enemies to the Ministry of Education or GES.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 22nd January 2022, Kofi Asare wrote;

"Selective Consultation is one of the causes of the confusion at the Ministry of Education GH and Ghana Education Service. While it is great to always consult friendly CSOs and experts, you sometimes miss the rigour critical CSOs bring to the policy process. We are uniquely built to tell you what others won’t.

I hear the Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum yesterday met his favorite ‘uncritical’ Education CSOs on Policy, and as usual, critical CSOs like Africa Education Watch and The Institute for Education Studies were not invited.

The withdrawal of the semester policy is an opportunity for the MoE’s self-Introspection and lesson on some of its arbitrary policy making approaches. We hope the lesson that, consensus among key stakeholders like teachers and parents is key, is not missed, but taken in good faith.

We shall continue to positively influence Policy and demand Policy Accountability on behalf of the patrons of our public education system and the citizenry.

We are only critical; not enemies." He ended.
