GES Cancels End Of Term Examinations In Schools

Latest news item cited at indicates that Ghana Education Service has directed all school authorities at the basic level not to conduct End of term examination for the current academic year. Very important announcement ahead of schools going on Easter break.

This was contained in a circular issued by the Deputy Director General of the Service, Dr Tandoh in his latest issue to all schools in Ghana.

It quotes that “head teachers and teachers are to use class exercises and class tests to assess students/pupils,” this is how the statement was issued in the communiqué to the school authorities.

This is as results of the reopening of schools following months of long closure due to the deadly pandemic Covid-19 across the entire country.

Ghana Education Service (GES) further justified that, the new directive indicating that the current academic year is for recovery learning and there should not be any end of term examination the statement added.

In other development, the Ghana Education Service top management has further informed all District Directors and School authorities that the existing arrangement for stationery use at the District Offices, which must be deducted from the schools’ capitation grant allocation still remains in full force.

This is the latest development that must be ensured by all basic schools across the country.
