CEO, Inter Tourism And Trade Expo Accra Signs Strategic Partnership MOU With The School Of Creative Arts, University Of Education Winneba

 

In the August presence of Prof. Mawutor Avoke, Vice Chancellor University of Education Winneba, the MOU was signed by Prof. Patrique de Graft-Yankson, Dean, School of Creative Arts, University of Education Winneba, Prof Samuel M. Yirenkyi, Vice Dean, School of Creative Arts, Dr. Johnson Edu, Production Coordinator, SCA and Dr. Pearl Hammond, Faculty officer, SCA with other dignitaries from the Inter Tourism and Trade Expo Accra commissioned the Memorandum of Understanding as working a document between the parties.

The objective of this MOU is to impart training to students in the emerging business of the creative arts industry and promotion of the creative arts segment of the annual tourism and trade expo held in Accra. This will further enable the faculty to bridge the gap between academia and industry in the exposition of works by various departments in the faculty as tourism collectibles and high economic receipts for the country. The formalization of this collaboration between SCA and INTTA in achieving the academic goals of the faculty, also creative arts as a conduit for tourism promotion brings out the scope of INTTA working with SCA on other creative arts promotion concepts such as the upcoming ‘’GHANA CREATIVE ARTS FESTIVAL”.

In the deliverables of this MOU, Mr. Emmanuel Treku has been endorsed to work with the faculty as an Adjourn Business Lecturer to provide quarterly lecture to final year students on the Business of Creative Arts industry as preparatory activity towards each year’s expo. 

The School of Creative Arts on the other hand, oversees the entire management of the creative arts segment of the expo with defined terms of reference for the purpose of planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting on activities for academic and industry future practice.

The School of Creative Arts, University of Education, Winneba highly appreciates this joint venture as testimonials from last year’s expo reveals the leverage on the faculty and other institutional engagements that has impacted the faculty’s training delivery in need and keeping them safe. The Dean of the School, Prof Patrique De Graft Yankson praise the unique position university’s partnership with the expo as good grounds for institutional and student development along with its ability to maintain direct presence on the ground of passing out more creative arts entrepreneurial student . This Memorandum of Understanding reflects excellent mutual relations between The School of Creative Arts, Winneba and Inter Tourism and Trade Expo. We stand ready to continue our support to INTTA in the years ahead of our shared priorities,” said Dean, School of Creative Arts, University of Education, Winneba.

The MOU will strengthen efforts for joint advocacy and support for introduction of new programs in business and entrepreneurial assistance, and for improved technical cooperation.  These efforts will be guided by the medium-term strategy for development cooperation of the University Community and the INTTA Strategic Plan.

The Chief Executive Officer and Convener of Inter Tourism and Trade Expo Accra, Mr. Emmanuel Treku pledge his institutions commitment in a joint efforts with the faculty will continue to work to turn the fortunes of the creative arts industry as a sustainable tourism collectibles that will boost GDP of our economy.  He further said this partnerships is timely with the signing of this new MOU, as the exposition of students and lecturers in this trade shows broadens their minds on the business of creative arts in harnessing of entrepreneurial skills and business linkages to make them ready for the job market.

He further mentioned preparations for this year’s expo on the way with scheduled dates from 14th to 18th of October 2022 at the World Trade Centre Accra and the Accra Sports Stadium respectively. The 2022 Inter Tourism and Trade expo promises strategic focus on the theme ‘’THE NEW TOURISM AND SUSTAINABLE AIR TRAVEL’’ with a trade highlights on Tourism, Education, Agriculture, Electronics and Software, Pharmaceuticals, Automobile, Transport and logistics. The unique activities of INTTA 2022 includes; B2B Conference and Exhibitions, Sports Tourism Fiesta hosting Africa, Ghana, Kenya 11 football legends, Universities Championship games, Chess Completion and the Food and Culture festival hosting the battle of Chefs Contest.

Inter Tourism and Trade Expo is a business trade tourism promotion organization whose aim is to promote business tourism, destination marketing and tourism trade shows to create a buyer seller match making among students, practitioners and travel consumers towards an economic sustainability in the tourism and creative arts industry. Inter Tourism and trade Expo Accra being born out of Global Signature, a tourism promotion agency has been in existence since March, 2005 and has been operating mainly in the Greater Accra Region. It had its first contact with UEW in June, 2021 through School of Creative Arts (SCA) at the maiden edition of the Inter Tourism Expo held in September 2021. Since then, INTTA has engaged the faculty on its working relations with UEW to host the second edition of the annual expo and other creative arts activities with the faculty. It has also received direct and indirect support from UEW on the preparation towards the second edition of the expo.
