The Ghana Education Service (GES) is mandated to promote teachers every four years. With regards to this, fresh graduates from the colleges of education or university when posted to the classroom will have to spend the said years before promotion.
The 2016 and 2017 batch of graduates who were posted are due to be promoted this year. However, this year’s edition was delayed due to the outbreak of the pandemic. The 2016 batch was supposed to be promoted in 2020 which some districts did but others couldn’t due to the above anomaly. Many District Education Directorates have therefore combined both the 2016 and 2017 batches and this is delaying the process. Additionally, individuals who are due also joined the promotion train leading to a huge number of applicants.
Fast forward, the GES has indicated that supervision and interviewing of qualified staff who are due for promotion to the above-mentioned rank ended on 31st July 2021.
The various district directorates will compile the list of qualified persons to GES Headquarters for the Director-General of Education’s approval. Individuals can expect positive feedback from their various District Education Directors somewhere in September 2021…MORE UPDATES SOON!!!
