2021 School Selection: More TVETS Schools Included

To ensure smooth placement of qualified BECE candidates for 2021 are placed in Senior High and Technical Schools without difficulties, Ghana Education Service and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service (TVETS) is organizing a public education and sensitization on the school selection process. The program which began on Tuesday, 23rd November 2021 at regional and district levels is being organized for teachers, students, and parents.

What is new?

This year TVET schools such as NVTI, OIC, ICCES, etc have been included in the school selection program. This, students, who are interested in pursuing pure technical and vocational courses will have the chance to do so. Again, students will have to select six schools of choice.

The Process

All SHS/SHTS/TVET institutions have been placed in four categories, i.e. category A, B, C, and D. All candidates must choose their 1st to 5th choices from schools in category A, B and C in order of preference. Each choice must have a program and accommodation preference, i.e. day or boarding. Additionally, candidates are to select a compulsory day as 6th choice from category D. Category D schools must be located in the candidates catchment area. The list of category D schools differ for each district.

Candidates who wish to offer only TVET programs must select all six TVETS schools from categories A, B, and C. In total each candidate must select six schools.

The school selection program will begin on Monday 29th November 2021 at their junior high schools. Parents and guardians ate supposed to supervise their ward in the selection.
