The Ghana Education Service GES has declared the first term of the basic schools in Ghana an exams free term. The management of the Ghana Education Service added that, the reopening of schools for the 2021 academic year for students from kindergarten to junior high school (JHS) was for “recovery learning” of what they lost during the lock down.
The Director General of Ghana Education Service GES is therefore urging all headteachers and teachers both in the primary and Junior High Schools through the Regional, municipal and district directors to use class exercise and tests as an assessment tool for pupils/students.
“Headteachers and teachers are to use class exercises and class tests to assess students/pupils,” the Director pronounced.
Furthermore, Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, the Deputy Director General of Education also urging all district directors and school heads that the existing arrangements for stationery use at the District office which is to be deducted from schools' capitation grant allocation remain in force.
“Management further wishes to inform all District Directors and School Heads that the existing arrangement for stationery use at the District Offices, which is to be deducted from the schools’ capitation grant allocation remains in force,” said Dr Tandoh.
