The issues emerging from the various universities in Ghana is "What is going to be the mode of graduation this year 2020 amidst this COVID-19 Pandemic season?"
Now, the management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has finally come out with the decision of holding its graduation online - virtual graduation upon several discussions. This was affirmed by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang when briefing the press on Monday July 13, 2020 at the University's council chamber, North-Campus
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Andy Ofori Birikorang updated the press on this new decision by the Management. Even though, the final date for the event has not been revealed but it is anticipated that, by the end of August this virtual graduation could take place when things continue to run smoothly for the administration.
He pointed to the fact that the Learning Management System (LMS) moodle was very successful and well utilised by the students however, about 12% of the final year students' population could not actively take part. Even with this, He continued to say that, the examination board is organising another exams for this few percentage of students who did not take part in the quizzes and exams organised by the school on the LMS.
Based on the successful completion of the LMS moodle, Pro. Andy Ofori-Birikorang affirmed that, the 2020 graduation ceremony will be held online.
