The Ghana Armed Forces have open a recruitment exercise to enroll potential applicants into the service. This is part of the annual routine exercise which the government has put in place to ensure that Ghanaian youths with qualified certification gain access to the service.
This year, about thousands of applicants are gathered at the El-Wak stadium in the nation's capital Accra in the early of Monday July 19 to participate in the medical screening and other documentation process for the recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces.
The exercise which is scheduled to come to a close on Sunday July 25, has seen some eligible Ghanaian youths gathered at the El-Wak stadium as at 03:00am. According to Class FM news reporter, some of the applicants went there since Sunday to get a place since the process is a "first come first serve" procedure.
In an interview with the Commanding officer of the 5th infantry Battalion, Lieutenant colonel Prince Tandoh explained that, even though the exercise is for the SHS certificate holders and Diploma holders, some degree holders also are there to take advantage of the process.
He added that, only those with the original printout copies of the recruitment exercise will be allowed to participate in the exercise. Also, there are measures put in place to aid in adhering to the COVID-19 protocols as Veronica buckets and sanitizers are made available for the use of anyone coming for the exercise.
When asked how many applicants will be selected out of the huge numbers that appeared today to go to the next stage of the exercise, he said that about 1000 applicants will be selected to undertake the aptitude test and body selection process and successful applicants will then qualify to go under training.
