99% will fail this test; Explain the reason why this engineering work is circle but not straight.

Civil engineering is quite a complicated job and surely diverse branch in general. But mostly compared to the other core branches it is considered to be one of the easiest and less hectic branches. The only difficult part is the Engineering Drawing as reported and complained by most students.

A typical example is the picture below:

People without any knowledge in civil engineering will definitely ask why this engineering work is so, why wasn't the bridge made in a linear form as indicated with the red line but was rather made in a circular form. The reason is quite simple but first let us understand what civil engineering is all about.

What is Civil Engineering?

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works t roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.

Now we know what it is, the only probable for this engineering work is that at some point in time, load or weight has to be distributed equally, and whenever there's shear stress and shear strain on the load the driver needs to slow down as he or she negotiates the curve. In other words the design is very good, but what is important is the balancing of the structure which is much stronger in a circular form than the straight (linear) form.
