GES Teachers Angry Over Allowance At Training Workshop

Reports from other news portals indicates, how teachers have planned to boycott a national workshop on a new curriculum by NACCA. Aebnews went close to some centers and gathered these facts from western region, central region, Ahafo region and Greater Accra region.

We gathered the Ghana Education Service (GES) in collaboration with National Council for Curriculum and Assessment invited teachers for a trainer of training workshop at all regional centers of the country. The participants reported on saturday December 26, 2020 and are expected to end on Thursday December 31, 2020.

However, the aggrieved teachers have threatened to boycott classes on Wednesday should their respective directors don't tell them anything regarding their allowances. Already, reports have it that their counterparts at Temale have boycotted classes as at day 3 of the programme.

The new Common Core Programme (CCP) Curriculum for Junior High School (Basic 7 to Basic 9) and Senior High School (Basic 10) is the second phase of pre-tertiary curriculum review which is about to kick start in January, 2021 (should schools resume). The said new curriculum was instituted by NACCA and it is a continuation of the KG-Primary 6 curriculum introduced in September 2019.

GES and other stake holders must ensure that participation teachers are given their entitlements to have a smooth delivery. Teachers perform essential service and that its about time we pay them what they deserve.
