Teachers Union In The Pre Tertiary Education Space Withdraw Their Services As They Embark On Strike

Another big issue hits the NPP government as the pre-tertiary education space made up of teaching and non-teaching staff embark on a national wide strike over the cost of living allowance which is popularly termed as COLA.

They stated that their grievances have not been dressed after they gave the government the 30th of June as the deadline for the payment of the cost of living allowance.

They said their actions are influenced and motivated by the high rate of inflation and cost of goods and services in the country.

"Ladies and gentlemen, our demand is influenced by the high level of inflation in the country, the incessant skyrocketing price of fuel, goods, and services have eroded the already woefully so-called salary increases granted us as expressed in 4% and seven percent for 2021 and 2022 respectively. Inflation in the country is 27.6% and continues to escalate ad infinitum; only God knows when this will abate." Part of the statement read.

They are by this notice informing the general public that the teaching and non-teaching staff of pre-tertiary education space are withdrawing all their services effective today Monday, 4th July 2022.

Below is the document from the office of the teachers union to the general public.
