National Council for Curriculum and Assessment(NACCA), will train teachers in November.
It is working together with the Ghana Education Service (GES).
NACCA and GES have slated November 2021 to train all teachers on the common core curriculum programme.
The council has therefore cautioned all private and public schools to pay deaf ears to any training council.
According to the NACCA and GES, they have not given any mandate to any body to organize workshop on the new curriculum.
Meanwhile, the Ghana National Council of Private Teachers(GNACOPS) over the past months organized workshops.
It has organized workshops for most private schools in the country, but NACCA and GES do not organize GNACOPS to train teachers on the core programme.
In a press release, they told that no institution has their jurisdiction to organize training on the curriculum.
This comes after some private schools and public schools started complaining of unclear understanding to teach.
Features of the new curriculum
The new curriculum has most of the Senior High School one topics and Junior High Two topics beginning as first semester topics.
This after the last semester examination produced weak performances from students in Junior High one.
Message from NACCA on the new curriculum
Nacca after receiving reports from the poor performance of students came out on different outlines:
- Alll Junior High One students should use the syllabus, and they will sit for B.E.C.E
- Preparations and printing of textbooks are now in progress.
- Also, the Common Core Programme will start with the students in primary six.
- Students who will use the new curriculum will sit for placement examination to replace B.E.C.E.
Message from the Ghana Education Service
However, the Ghana Education Service has advised all students to adhere to the Covid 19 safety protocols.
It told that all form 3 candidates in SHS and JHS should study well to pass their Wassce and BECE examination.
GES also advised them to avoid examination malpractice.
