I am not in charge of food distribution across Senior High Schools - Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum

The National Food Buffer Stock has promised the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, that they will provide food to the various Senior High schools that are reopening. According to Dr. Adutwum, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture's Buffer Stock Company is entirely in charge of providing food to schools, and it is reimbursed by the Ministry of Education.

Recall that the Conference of Heads of Assisted Schools in the Upper West Region had said that there are food shortages in every school in the area in a statement following an emergency meeting conducted at the Queen of Peace Senior High School in Wa.

This, according to CHASS, was brought about by local vendors' refusal to provide food products to the various schools. It was discovered that the local vendors called to assist and the food suppliers contracted by Buffer Stock Company are all refusing to furnish due to unpaid balances for food provided to the schools.

All the area's schools are experiencing severe food shortages as a result of this. In fact, if nothing immediate is done, an assessment of the situation showed that the majority of schools cannot function for longer than one week.

But in an interview with Alfred Ocansey on the Ghana Tonight show on TV3 on Wednesday, August 17, Dr. Adutwum, a lawmaker for Bosomtwe, said, "I am not in charge of food distribution across Senior High Schools but the Buffer Stock gave me the firm assurance that the schools that are opening will get food items to keep the students fed.
