One Teacher, One Laptop : Teachers Discrediting TM1 Should Back Off-JHS Teacher

Amidst countless complaints and allegations that the Teachers Mate 1 laptop (TM1) is substandard and inferior to be used by teachers, some junior high school teachers who have received the machine do not share the same sentiments at all.

One of them is a teacher identified as Felix Amoah, believed to be a JHS teacher. He decided to express his excitement after receiving his laptop today in his school. Mr. Amoah wrote on his Facebook handle, “I just received mine. It's excellent. Those IT Gurus who are discrediting KA Technologies should back off.”

As if that was the end, another teacher identified as Odehyeba Nana Kwabena Ansong also shared his experience after receiving his. He mentioned,“ I really like the machine. It works fast when connecting to Hotspot and Wi-Fi. The only problem is the camera, to improve upon. It's better pass RLG koraa.”

Although these teachers have expressed their genuine concerns upon receiving their laptops, teachers have also reacted to their statements. Comments observed under the post which was shared by KA Technologies official Facebook page point to the fact that under no circumstances should TM1 Laptops be compared to RLG popularly known as 'Better Ghana' laptops because the latter was inferior and of less quality.

If you recall, in the Mills-Mahama led administration, the government procured tens of thousands of laptops to basic schools to assist in the teaching and learning of ICT at no cost to teachers. However, the machines barely lasted for a year because they developed so many faults, leading to their breakdown.

The Ghana Education Service has begun the second phase of distributing the laptops to junior high schools as schools reopen. Shortly after, the last phase will be seen to the distribution of the laptops to Primary and Kindergarten teachers in the various public schools across Ghana.
