Basic Schools Will Go In Semesters But In Four Sections - GES Director

The Director for Ghana Education Service, Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwa has today made it clear that the basic schools in Ghana will attend school for forty weeks in a year.

Speaking on Peace Fm Morning show, the director explained that, basic schools in Ghana used to attend classes for forty-two weeks in a year.

He added that, the new development by the GES has made it possible for students to go to school for forty weeks in a year. He explained that, this forty weeks will be divided into four sections or four semesters.

This means, students will go to school for ten(10) weeks and then vacate.

The student will be on vacation for few days and come back to school for another ten weeks and finally have a long vacation.

He believes that, this development will help student have some rest and also make teachers further their education. He also added that, classes will start at 7:30 am and end at 2:30pm each day.
