The Education Minister of Ghana, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has released the statistics of the National Standardized Test Examination which was conducted for Basic 4 pupils in the country last year. Ahafo region emerged first followed by Bono. Western Region and Western North placed 15th and 16th respectively.
According to the Education Minister who doubles as a Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region under the ticket of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has submitted the test results to his Ministry.
Dr. Adutwum, in an interview on Asaase Radio annouced that the results will be released in the appropriate time after they have successfully and fully rolled out the website to host the results online.
The Honourable Minister in his interview with Asaase Radio 99.5Mhz noted that the average performance for English Language was better than Mathematics. He cited 54% as the overall average for the English Language, whiles Mathematics had an average of 46%.
In all, a total of 561,595 public primary four students wrote the standardized test examination in the country at 2,609 examination centres with an average of 200 pupils at a centre.
