Ghana Statistical Service appeals to Teachers to be Cencus Ambassadors in Their Schools.

Ghana Statistical Service has urged teachers to be ambassadors in their various schools to sensitize students.

When awareness of the population and housing census are created among students, the students will carry it to their various communities which will help in the successful process of the Population and Housing Census.

Majority of teachers have been recruited as field officers for upcoming population and housing census which begins on 13th June 2021 for listing of structures and Census night on 27th June, 2021. Enumeration on 28th June to 11th July, 2021.

Enumerators will be tasked to ensure completely capturing of all households and structures.

Usual members of household and visitors present on census night(that is 12:00 a. m on 27th June, 2021), in order to cover completely all persons in the 2021 PHC, population in households has been put into three statuses to facilitate enumeration and to avoid double counting. The statuses are:

Status A, usual members present on census night

Status B, visitors present on census night

Status C, usual members absent on census night.

Seasonal workers who return home after season, if such workers spent census night with the household, they should be considered as usual members present. However, if they were absent on census night they should be recorded as usual members absent.

Students in boarding schools or hostels. If a student spent census night with the household, he/she should be recorded as usual member present, if not he/she should be classified as usual member absent. However, students who have spent six months or more before census night outside the country and those who were outside the country on census night and intend to stay outside the country for next six months or more, should not be regarded ad usual members.
