School Administrators in Ashanti Region have been under scrutiny by both Internal and External Auditors during this week. The Auditors are checking for financial malfeasance and ghost names that may exist in our basic schools.
Reports coming in from the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region indicate that External Auditors sent to that District have discovered that Heads of Basic Schools do not issue official Controller and Accountant General Department's receipts to District Education Directorate after being credited with capitation grant.
Another important observation was, Headteachers do not write activity reports after sporting events.
According to the Auditors, the reason for sports-activity report is to inform the District Education Directorates what transpires on the field. They (Auditors) revealed that Headteachers who did not present sports-activity reports cannot be cleared.
It is yet to be seen if Headteachers would be punished for these administrative errors. Other malfeasance identified is inadequate attachment documents to back capitation grant expenditures.
The Headteachers have been warned not to repeat these mistakes in future.
