Ghana Education Service(GES) introduced the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) in some selected public Kindergarten and Primary schools across the country this academic year. The GALOP programme is aimed at providing underprivileged schools with funds to improve learning outcomes in schools.
GALOP has come to last for five 5 years from 2021 and is aimed at uplifting the learning outcome of the targeted schools. Ten thousand (10000) basic schools and twenty-eight special schools are currently under the GALOP.
ALL ABOUT THE GALOP CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP.
GES in collaboration with the National Teaching Council (NTC) is organizing a targeted intervention workshop for GALOP schools across the country. Heads and a teacher of each selected GALOP schools will be equipped in this workshop for effective teaching and learning.
As part of the components of GALOP, the workshop will focus on Digital Literacy, Safe School, TLM preparation and provision, Guidance and Counselling, Positive Reinforcement as well as Monitoring and Teaching Techniques.
Same training and content will be done according by each District, Metropolitan and Municipal Education Directorates across the country.
It is a two days workshop and any headteacher who absence himself or herself will be taking out of the selected schools. This is how important the workshop is to GES.
NON GALOP SCHOOLS.
According to GES, the Non GALOP Schools are going to be given some of the resources and TLMs too as a PUSH for effective teaching and learning outcome. Currently, particulars of Heads and teachers of Non GALOP Schools have been compiled and are being worked on at the national level. A package will be given to each class teacher of the Non GALOP Schools together with teaching aids as a form of incentive to motivate them.
