Official Communique On The Postponement Of The New Curriculum Workshop From GES - Reasons

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a press release has explained the reasons behind the postponement of the New Curriculum.

Also known as Common Core Curriculum(CCP which was to be organized at the district level for Junior High School(JHS) and SHS 1 teachers across the country.

According to a press statement endorsed by the Deputy Director-General of GES, Dr. Kwabena Tandoh, the GES has recognized the enormous impact that the prolonged closure of schools has had on the closure schools.

Due to the prolonged closure of schools due to the outbreak of the pandemic hence the need to developed guidelines and resources to support schools, teachers, and students recover learning loss.

The management has, therefore, direct that Schools at all levels from KG to Junior High Schools use the first 8 weeks of reopening to begin recovery learning interventions.

This will however include an assessment of all learners to ascertain their level of knowledge, using differentiated teaching methods to support and closely observe learners’ progress.

In the statement, the management of the Ghana Education Service assured the general public that it will provide detailed reopening guidelines as well as guidelines and resources for recovering learning losses before reopening.

“In light of this, the Common Core Programme training slated for Monday, January 11, 2021, at the school level to prepare JHS 1 teachers is postponed. A new date will be communicated in due time”, the statement added.
