2021 BECE begins today with over 571,000 candidates

From today, Monday, November 15, 2021, through Friday, November 19, 2021, a total of 571, 894 applicants will take the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) at 2,158 locations around the country.

In 2020 and 2019, a total of 531,707 and 517,332 candidates took the exam, respectively.

Mrs. Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the Ghana Education Service's Head of Public Relations, issued a statement urging candidates to avoid all sorts of examination misconduct throughout the period.

''Candidates, invigilators, supervisors, school officials, teachers, and parents are strongly recommended to avoid any type of examination malpractice."

"GES, WAEC, and the security services are collaborating to guarantee that the examinations go smoothly in all of the country's centers," she added.

Supervisors and invigilators were also charged in the statement with ensuring rigorous adherence to COVOD-19 guidelines.

Teachers, school heads, parents, and other stakeholders were also praised for preparing the candidates for the exam, according to the release.

It stated that specifics of the Senior High School selection process would be provided in due time and wished all candidates success and good luck.
