Do Not Punish Students: Just draw their attention to their misbehaviour - GES

Ghana Education Service has cautioned Teachers across the length and breadth of the country to desist from using corporal punishment in dealing with student misbehaviour in our Pre Tertiary institutions.

A set pictures and video have surfaced on the Internet and social media platforms. The people in those pictures are Senior High School students, a boy and girl. The students are believed to be folding, kissing and caressing each other.

This disturbing video has raised the question of the whereabout of teachers in that particular school as visuals in the photos suggest that the incident occurred during classes hours.

It looks the students are lovers and do what married couples do on regular basis. However, we'll meaning parents and guardians would be very much concerned should they chance on this video.

Per Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service's manual on dealing with student misbehaviour, the teachers are only required to draw attention of the students to their inappropriate behaviour.

Most Teachers in our Pre Tertiary Institutions ( Kindergarten, Primary, Junior High and Senior High Schools) have decided to protect their jobs rather than being victimised by their employer, Ghana Education Service.
