The National Service Scheme is a public institution responsible for posting graduates who have completed a tertiary course of study in any accredited University.
The secretariat in the past two months have delayed in paying allowances of personnel posted in the 2021 service year, this has raised eyebrows and varied opinions as to why the delay in payment of allowances.
Some group of people have blamed it on government attributing it to lack of funds from the Akufo-Addo Administration.
The former president of Ghana, His excellency John Dramani Mahama had advocated on his social media handle that service personnel should be payed all arrears to provide them the the necessary assistance to go to work and work effectively.
A possible reason the allowances have been delaying maybe as a result the new loan scheme introduced by NSS for personnel, an nss personnel can now get a loan from the scheme at a compound interest and this loan can be accessed on one's dashboard, once you request for it, the money is payed to your E-zwich card and later deducted at source through same E-zwich.
If allowances are payed early, it will be less likely for any personnel to request for such a loan with high interest rates. Madam Gifty Oware-Obagye has been urged to pay Personnel very early enough like they did in the past. Lets also endeavor not to invest their money into treasury bills.
