The Ghana National Association of Teachers' president Phillipa Larsen has made some allegations against the president of the state. She made mention that, the president since assumption of office in 2017 has never attended the annual award ceremony of teachers.
She specifically said that; "Teachers are so sad because we love the president and we know our president also loves us,” Ms Larsen indicated.
“But it must be shown not just by words. Your words can be given to anybody to present but seeing you is different thing altogether.”
She therefore wants to the president to attend next year's ceremony no matter what.
This has triggered some reactions from Ghanaians. Below are some comments on social media
According to the comments, people are not really interested in what the president is doing but rather what the teacher Union which is headed by the president is doing. According to them, the teacher Union should never have accepted the 4% salary increment but rather kept quite. According to them, the president not attending annual award occasions should not be a problem but rather fix the union.
Ghanaians have really gone hard on the GNAT union because they barely talk about issues at hand but rather things that may not benefit the union.
Others believe that, the president must be joking for saying this. The president is currently making a tour at the Eastern region to inspect several developmental projects in the region.
