There are various ways to classify the best Senior High Schools in Ghana. It can be based on factors such as performance in WASSCE, category the school is classified into by Ghana Education Service ( GES ). NSMQ performance and other Educational programmes also contributes to such factors.

3 Mfantsipim Senior High School
Mfantsipim is an all-boys boarding secondary school in Cape Coast, Ghana established by the Methodist Church in 1876 to foster intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth on the then Gold Coast. Its founding name was Wesleyan High School and the first headmaster was James Picot, a French scholar, who was only 18 years old on his appointment.
Mfantsipim have produce prominent people in Ghana which includes; Kofi Annan ( Former UN General Secretary ) and many others.
2 St Augustine's Senior High School
St. Augustine’s College is an all-male academic institution in Cape Coast, Ghana. The school started at Amissano, a village near Elmina, in 1930. The Catholic institution was established to serve as a training college and seminary. The school was named after St. Augustine of Hippo.
1 Adisadel College
Adisadel College is the second-oldest secondary school in Ghana after Mfantsipim School, an arch rival which was established by the Methodist Church in 1876. It was ranked 10th out of the top 100 best high schools in Africa by Africa Almanac in 2003, based on quality of education, student engagement, strength and activities of alumni, school profile, internet and news visibility.
