Data collection is very key in the management and smooth administration of the our educational system. The data collected help Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to make budgetary decisions.
Reports coming in from the various District Education Directorates indicate that certain key information about the teaching staff of Ghana Education Service needed urgently.
Ashanti Regional Education Directorate has tasked Headteachers across the region to submit data on all professional and non-professional teachers in the Region. The Headteachers are to submit the data through their respective district Education Management and Information System (EMIS) officers.
Both soft and hard copies of the data is required by the District EMIS officers. The soft copy will be sent the Regional Directorate while the District keeps the hard copies.
Some the of the key information required are the name of the teacher, staff ID, current rank, and highest professional qualification. Others are schedule, present station, year appointed to present rank, social security number and telephone number.
Non-professional teachers are requested to add their highest academic qualification while highest professional qualification is demanded from their professional colleagues.
The deadline for the submission of this data is by the close of work tomorrow, Tuesday 13th April, 2021.
This latest demand by the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate raises serious questions about data management and storage abilities of the supervisory body. Teachers always argue that they have been submitting data to the District, Regional and Ghana Education Service Headquarters since time immemorial.
