WAEC Refute Part Of Eduwatch 2021 WASSCE Report - 3 SHS Did Not Partake In 2021 WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) following the release of a 2021 WASSCE EduWatch report has said three Senior High Schools the report listed did not participate in the just ended international examination.

Africa Education Watch in its 2021 WASSCE monitoring report said their monitoring team visited 50 Senior High Schools to monitor the conduct of the examination administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

But, the spokeswoman for WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe speaking at a press conference said the 3 schools namely Insaaniyaa Senior High School, Beposoman Muslims Senior High School, and Kikam SHS did not partake in WASSCE.

She disclosed that the Insaaniyaa Senior High School as of January 2021 had been shut down, thus it was impossible for the school authorities to have registered students to partake in the 2021 WASSCE for School Candidates.

“We observed that one, Insaaniyaa Senior High School, which is number twelve on the list of schools that were reported to have been monitored by Eduwatch, does not currently exist. The school was closed down in January 2021.

“No candidate was registered by Insaaniyaa SHS for the WASSCE 2021, neither was the school used as an examination centre. So we do not know where his monitors went to monitor Insaaniyaa Senior High School,” the PRO stated.

The Examinations Council spokesperson further said Beposoman Muslims School is not recorded in the Council’s list of Senior High Schools that participated in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School.

“Beposoman Muslims Senior High School, which is number one on the list of 50 Senior High Schools by Africa Education Watch (EduWatch) is also not on the Council’s list of participating schools for the exam.

“So we do not really know what he meant by listing Beposoman Senior High School and then he also has Ghana Muslim Mission school on his list. So, I think that we’ll need further clarification on that,” the spokeswoman said.

The WAEC official commenting on Kikam Senior High Technical School said the school is not on its list of Senior High Schools that enrolled prospective candidates for the 2021 edition of WASSCE for School.

“So when we look at the list of schools that Eduwatch claims that they monitored, these schools are not on our list of schools that took part in the WASSCE, so we wish to ask Eduwatch to give us further clarification,” Mrs Anges noted.
