The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) is an annual educational programme which seeks to test the knowledge of senior high school students on the basic concepts in the field of Science and Mathematics. The qualifiers was done earlier this year and many schools booked a place to participate in the preliminary stage of the competition by winning their respective contests.
The format for the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) has changed slightly this year. Unlike the previous years where all the participating schools in the preliminary stage of the competition converge at Accra, this year's preliminary contests would take place across the regions and zones in the country.
The balloting for the various contests across the regions and zones has been done. About 21 schools in the Ashanti Region would battle it out to earn a place in the One-eighth (1/8th) stage of the competition. The Preliminary stage contests in Ashanti Region will come off on November 4 and 5 this year. Below are the contests for the Ashanti Region:
It should be noted that six (6) schools from the region have already booked a place in the 1/8th stage of the competition because they made it to the quarter final stage in the 2020 edition. These schools include:
- Opoku Ware School
- Prempeh College
- Kumasi Academy
- Anglican Senior High School, Kumasi
- Kumasi Sec. Tech. School
- Armed Forces SHTS
