Fixthecountry Conveynor Oliver Barker-Vormawor has asserted that ten (10) banks will collapse on the day we start paying teachers enough salary they can survive on. He argued that teachers are intentionally being kept poor so that they may go for loans.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 5th July 2022, Oliver wrote;
"The day we start paying teachers a salary they can survive on, 10 banks will collapse. Because there will be no one to come for loans to pay rent. We keep them poor intentionally!".
Background
The comments of Oliver Barker follows the ongoing Strike action by the Pre-tertiary teachers in Ghana. According to them, they want 20% cost of living allowance (COLA) due to recent hike in prices of goods. The various teacher Unions declared strike on 4th July 2022.

Teachers usually complain about how meagre their salaries are. People are of the opinion that many teachers go for loans before they are able to establish properties or survive with their salaries.
