There are different associations managers and leaders at different levels within the Ghana Education Service join. For example, there is Conference of District Directors of Education(CODE), Conference of Heads of Asssited Secondary School (CHASS) and Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS).
The Ashanti regional branch of the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS) met last week to discuss about issues concerning and confronting the managers of Basic schools in the country.
It has now emerged that the Regional Executives are demanding key data about their members across the length and breadth of the Ashanti Region.
The various District Chairpersons of COHBS have be given up next week to collect data on all members within their jurisdiction. Key data demanded include name, staff ID, registered number, Date of Headship Appointment among others.
It is unclear as to why the executives are demanding these details at this stage. However, most of members have complaining about non-payments of their responsibility allowance.
COHBS members normally loose their responsibility allowance after promotion from one grade to the other and the organisation should work towards rectifying that as soon as possible.
Members of the will be very disappointed if the executives used their details to process any membership dues deduction at the Controller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD).
Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS) is one the key stakeholders of our education system which is largely underfunded due non-payment of dues by it's members.
