National Council for Curriculum and Assessment is the full meaning of NaCCA.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NACCA) is an institution mandated by the Education Regulatory Body Act 2020 (Act1023). And NaCCA is responsible of approving teaching and learning material for use in pre-tertiary schools.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment is also responsible to lead development in curriculum and assessment and to support the implementation of changes resulting from this work. And also for making sure that the textbooks that are used in the kindergarten, primary and JHS levels are good for the students.

The National Council for curriculum and Assessment also helps the text books writers and publishers to improve their books.

Some days back, the management of National Council for Curriculum and Assessment came out to published the complete list of approved textbooks for the kindergarten to the basic 6 pupils since the introduction of the new curriculum. The management approved those textbooks for both private and public schools in Ghana. Some of the private and public schools in the country are still using unauthorized textbooks to tech learners in classrooms. And NaCCA is out to send a notice to all those schools.

According to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, the management of NaCCA is cautioned both private and public schools in the country that are using unapproved textbooks to teach learners in classrooms to desist from such illegal action.

The National Council for Curriculum Assessment also stated that, one of the numerous unapproved textbooks in the market for sale is ' Golden History of Ghana for Basic 6' published by Golden Publications and authored by Mercy Gyaa-Adiyah.

NaCCA added that, the management of NaCCA will soon embark on an unannounced visit to public and private pre-tertiary schools in the country and punish school that are still using unapproved textbooks.

All these warning came after the NaCCA attention was drawn to the use of unauthorized textbooks for teaching KG primary and JHS. And its attention was also drawn on some publishing companies advertising unapproved books in the country. Please share, like and comment on this article.
