Kumasi High School have crashed out of the National Science and Maths Quiz Competition for 2020 (NSMQ2020). In the preliminary stages Kumasi High School faced KNUST Senior High School and St. Mary's Girls' SHS. At the end of that preliminary contest KNUST SHS won with 46 points followed by Kumasi High School with 30 points and St. Mary's Girls' SHS with 15 points.
After 40 thrilling contests 40 schools who won the preliminary contest will move to the one-eight stage along with 14 Top Runners-up schools. But after the contests there 16 Top Runners-up with 4 schools all tied at 30 points with Kumasi High School being part of the 4 schools tied at 30 points. A tie breaker contests was organized for the four schools namely Adu Gyamfi SHS, Bueman SHS, Kumasi High School and St. Mary's Girls' SHS. At the end of the contest the scores were; Adu Gyamfi SHS - 32 points, St. Mary's Girls' SHS - 29 points, Kumasi High School - 14 points and Bueman SHS - 13 points. This means that Adu Gyamfi SHS and St. Mary's Girls' SHS will be joining the other 12 schools making 14 schools as the Top Runners-up schools.
The 14 Top Runners-up schools will join the 40 preliminary contest winners and 27 other seeded schools making 81 schools in the One-Eighth stage of the competition. The One-Eighth stage contest will start on the 28th of September 2020.
The National Science and Maths Quiz is an annual science and mathematics content-based national level quiz competition for senior high schools in Ghana. It has been produced by Primetime Limited, an education-interest advertising and public relations agency since 1993.
