University of Education, Winneba holds elections today with tight security presence

The electoral commission of the University of Education, Winneba suspended electoral activities due to a directive issued by the Dean of students to suspend all electoral activities due to the University Teachers Association of Ghana's (UTAG) strike.

This strike however disrupted many activities on campus including lectures, examinations, and the electing of new leaders on campus.

As the strike was suspended, the electoral commission of UEW made an arrangement and fixed a date to commence all electoral activities.

The elections are coming off today and as expected, students have been urged to come out of their hostels and halls of residence to partake in the upcoming elections and make a choice of leadership for the school. There has been the pronouncement that there is going to be strict security at all centers to tame trouble makers in the elections. And any attempt to disrupt the process of it will be thwarted by the security personnel.

The competition is however keenly contested as almost all the SRC presidential aspirants have hired a number of buses to convey students to and fro from the various campuses of the South Campus, Central Campus, and the ultimate North Campus.

This is done with the aim to capture all their supporters to be able to cast their votes to help them carry the day as students are at the same time holding their End of Second Semester Examinations.
