Pupils and residents of Kadjebi in the Oti region are in distress after a disaster occurred in the town. A rainstorm unroofed two school buildings in the town, leaving the pupils nowhere to attend class. The pupils of the Roman Catholic School and EP JHS in the town were in their classrooms learning when it began to rain.
This was followed by a heavy storm which removed some of the roofing sheets of the building. According to one pupil, she was trying to escape from the classroom to the staff room when a roofing sheet was removed and hit her hand.
She said that students in the senior class quickly treated it for her. Some of the students took refuge in the staff common room and others went to hide at the part of the classroom that was not affected.
The assemblyman of the area, Samuel Kofi Manu said the pupils will have to be at home till the classrooms are fixed. And this is going to affect them, especially those in their final year. He pleaded with NADMO and NGOs to come to their aid.
