The Chief Executive Officer of a Kumasi based multi purpose chemical firm Dynamic Express Pest Solutions, Mr Kwaku Asamoah Bonsu has disclosed that lack of regular fumigation exercise in schools are among the factors that cause disease outbreaks to trouble students.
Mr Asamoah underscored that bedbugs and other harmful insects in second cycle institutions have become a cause of worry to both school authorities, parents and students in general.
Speaking to the Opera News Content Writer King Amoah in an interview, the Chief Executive Officer stressed the need for the government and for that matter the Sanitation Ministry to fumigate Senior High Schools and other government institutions in every three months to curb disease.
According to him bedbugs
and other insects like cockroaches, mosquitoes and ants have repeatedly been invading some of the schools especially, those with boarding facilities and this has raised serious health concerns.
Mr Kwaku Bonsu reiterated that bedbug bites can cause health complications like sleep deprivation and aneamia from loss of blood.
He said when the free Senior High School policy was not introduced Parents And Teachers Association (PTA) was able to shoulder with the government to address the issue.
Alleging that the fumigation exercises in schools today tends to be slowing down due to heavy financial challenges on the government.
To reverse the trend Mr Kwaku Bonsu passionately appealed to the government through the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources to enter into partnership deal with the relevant chemical companies to help embark on at least three times fumigation exercise in schools within a year to free students from disease attacks.
