NSS allowance is ¢559 but these graduates takes more than Ghc3000 a month for 2 years

The National Service monthly allowance is Ghc559 for tertiary graduates and teacher trainees.

Nurses take about Ghc700 as service allowance. Several calls have been made for the Nation Service Secretariat board and the government of Ghana to increase the allowance for years now but no action has been taking yet.

It was even rumored that Ghc100 will be taken away from the service allowance of Personnel to contribute to the development of the National Cathedral.

So far it is only graduates from the Medical School that takes an allowance of Ghc3000 per month for two years after successfully graduating from the medical school.

However, they are not being paid by the National Service Secretariat since their term of service is called "houseman ship" instead of national service.

This is some how very unfair to other university graduates who takes only Ghc559 per month though the medicine students spend 6 years in school before graduating.

Also the school of medicine students do their national service for two years instead of one year as an ordinary graduate. They seem to be overrated and over hyped.

Surprisingly, Diploma Nurses takes more allowance than Degree Nurses which is very shocking.

Authorities of other tertiary graduates and collaboration with NUGS should plead to the NSS board to increase the service allowance to at least Ghc1000 a month.
