Ghana's Eastern Region is the last region where the NSMQ regional qualification competition is being held. The competition started few days ago and has seen eight (8) schools qualify from the region to the Preliminary Stage of the national competition.
The quiz is aimed to test the knowledge of students on the field of Science and Mathematics. Mostly, General Science students are known to be the best students for this and recognized to be the best students in most of Ghana's senior high schools after examination.
Some schools which lost today in the last region showed some poor performance where they obtained very low scores. Each contest has over 70 points available group grasp by contestants of each school. It becomes surprising when schools get less than 40% of this total points (28 points). However, others even manage to get way below that score.
Three schools won their respective contests in the Eastern Region to qualify to the Preliminary Stage of the national competition.
Below are the winners for today's Eastern Regional Qualifiers Competition
a. Okuapeman - 51 points
b. Nifa SHS - 43 points
c. WBM Zion SHS - 23 points
Below are some of the scores I find to be very low and such schools need to improve and find new strategies in order to redeem themselves in the next edition.
I was shocked to see schools managing to obtain below 5 points at the End of Round 1. Some people would say that the questions were difficult. How difficult could the questions have been for a school to get 0/16 points for the first round. Preparation issues?
Just check the score of the 4th placed school in the contest shown above. You must surprised as I am but that is what a school could manage to get at the end of the 4 rounds of competition.
Other scores are shown below. Check the scores.
What can these schools do right in order to be on the same level as other schools in other regions which are performing very well? Kindly leave your comments below.
