Black Entertainment Television Awards best known as BET has in fourteen hours (14hrs) ago released their nominees list for 2021.
The list's category of Best International Act had African acts like Burna Boy (Nigeria), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania) and Wizkid also from Nigeria.
To the surprise of many Ghanaians, none of the big names in the music space were able to make it up to the list talk of the likes of Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Samini, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Kwesi Arthur and Wendy Shay.
The very hot and banging new crop of acts such as Yaw Tog, Kofi Jamar, Kweku Flick, Gyakie the 'forever hit maker' and co despite having a very successful entry onto the music scene were also lost on the list to the biggest shock of many entertainment enthusiasts.
However, a well known entertainment pundit Emmanuel Barnes also know as Rude Buoy Sterling but popularly known as Mr. Logic doesn't seem astonished at the abysmal performance of Ghanaian musicians in this year's BET Awards nominations.
According to the ace showbiz pundit and also president of the Song Writers Association of Ghana, Ghanaians have over hyped the new school acts and immediately almost tried to relegate the senior acts who kept the flag hoisting for Ghana at the above mentioned awards ceremony over the past active years.
"Yaw Tog was over hyped..." Mr. Logic said speaking today on the 'Day Break Hitz' show with ace broadcaster and radio personality Andy Dosty (The host).
He further on stated that care has to be taken so we as Ghanaians don't put up the new talents against the very experienced too quickly.
"How can you call someone a king when the person has just one song or one hit song to his credit" he said.
He also further noted that Gyakie is a very good talent but if care is not taken, "she may end up as one of those girls who come up and are all over the place and next two, three songs then they are out of the market"
We must give credit to our heroes no matter what and acknowledge their good works over the years and not be carried away by to emergence of new heroes. It's quite sad Ghana couldn't make it to the BET Awards this but who knows, next year could be the very year for our music icons to shut it down.
