The media space got flooded with news about the bail of renowned Ghanaian actress, Rosemond Brown earlier today, after she was hit with a 90 days jail term last week. Rosemond Brown popularly known in the showbiz circles as Akuapim Polo got herself in hot water in June last year, when she released a nude picture with her 7 year old son during the celebration of her son's birthday.
Her controversial picture received several backlashes from Ghanaians and subsequently led to a court hearing, where she was handed a 90 days jail term. Her conviction saw several big personalities jump into her aid imploring the court to pardon the actress. Her lawyer, Mr. Andrew Vortia filed an appeal against the jail sentence and was granted a Ghs80,000 bail with two sureties.
However, the flagbearer of the Liberty party of Ghana( LPG), Mr. Percival Kofi Akpaloo, publicly voiced out his opinion about the matter for the first time during an interview on Onua Fm. The presidential candidate believes the court was lenient with Akuapim Poloo and should have made her serve the 90 days jail sentence to deter others from replicating the same behaviour. Mr. Akpaloo sides with the few other Ghanaians who wanted Akuapim Poloo serve the full sentence.
Of course a full sentence would have been a good deterrence to others, nonetheless what Akuapim Poloo has gone through so far is also enough to be a warning to all Ghanaians.
