I remember when we were kid's, if we wanted to show that we are all grown up, we will stop watching cartoons. Yes, some animated movies and shows affirm the fact that cartoons are for kids. Some cartoons, to others teach nothing good to children but violence, impudence and things that we as Africans do not take lightly. However, if you watch and listen closely to some animated movies. You will tap knowledge you always needed.
These iconic quotes in some of Disney animated movies did justice to inspiring and teaching;
1. “ The past can hurt but the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it. ” This quotes hits a more matured note. This was said by Raffiki the baboon in the iconic animated movie “The Lion King”. It tells us to learn lessons from our past mistakes and take responsibility.
2. “ Today's special moments are tomorrow's memories.” Another simple yet meaningful word of wisdom. It was said by the genie in the animated movie “Aladdin”. Once in a while we wish we could relive moments we took for granted then. So if you have a special moment to enjoy, please do before it becomes a memory.
3. “ Sometimes we only see how people are different from us but if you look hard enough you can see how much we're all alike. ” This was said by Princess Jasmine in the movie Aladdin. This gem of a quote speaks to our racially, economically and tribally separated society. Sometimes, it is better to look at the similarities we have than our differences to appreciate each other.
4. “ The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful. ” This well said quote was said by the Emperor of China in the animated movie “Mulan”. It teaches us to not give up on ourselves in problems and our resulting selves will be one beautiful personality and story. It is very true if you consider how inspirational celebrities who came out of suffering to become successful are.
I believe the reason we misunderstand some animated movies to be only for kids is because we forget that the stories were written by adults. In this world that there's a motivational message to suit every individual, even baseless ones, I'm glad Disney animation threw in gems of quotes which are applicable in our lives.
Which cartoon quote do you like the most?
