Ghana's movie industry has evolved over the years and one figure who has contributed to the movie industry is Harry Laud of Harry Laud Productions.
Born Harry Laud Akwetey Teye, the director, producer and actor came to prominence in the early 2000s.
Known as multitalented or what some say Jack of all Trades, he was instrumental in most aspects of his productions which were evidently seen in his movie credits.
Today we put the spotlight on him, flashing back to the days of his prominence as some know to him to be multitalented as a director, producer, actor and many things on set/productions.
Some of the movies from Harry Laud Productions are classic hits such as Yaa Asantewaa, Marigyata which had the late Bob Santo as lead character, the 2001 movie Awurade Kasa which starred himself, Akofa Edjeani, Brew Riverson, Frankie Taylor, Roger Quartey, King Aboagye Brenya, Terry Bright Ofosu and many other stars. Of course not forgetting the 2006 hilarious movie "Koti Academy" which had people who suffered short stature playing the role of police officers. This is amongst other movies which he has been behind the production.
Despite all his contributions to the movie industry and entertainment in Ghana, he hasn't been immune to controversies. It was reported of some actors who threatened to sue him over a breach of contract in terms of payment after they have worked in his movies. One actress allegedly narrated how she was forced to report him at the police headquarters before she was paid her money owed her for work done for him.
But all in all, he has contributed his quota to the movie industry and here is to celebrating him whiles he is alive.
