This year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) has generated a fierce competition where people of the Ashanti region are dying to get their contestants crowned the queen. After Akua won for the Ashanti region in 2011, no one from the region has won again and Sarfoa appears to be the best fit for the crown this year.
This Sunday’s show had the contestants talking about tourist sites in their region for 4 minutes. And after that, they have another task of answering a current affair matter. After Sarfoa was done talking about the Ashanti region, which the 4 minutes was insufficient considering the history of the region, she was rebuked by the judges for failing to talk about Yaa Asantewaa. Yaa Asantewaa has been the top conversation by all the Ashanti region contestants and they didn’t know why Sarfoa couldn’t recognize her impact.
But the top question on the minds of many supporters of Sarfoa is: is Yaa Asantewaa a tourist site in Kumasi? The simple answer is- No! There is no tourist centre dedicated for Yaa Asantewaa so what were the judges expecting Sarfoa to say about her when she has unlimited time to talk about other important tourist sites.
Sarfoa educated the public about Bonwire Kente. Most people wear it to important programmes but they don’t know the origin of the material. She was very eloquent and intelligent. Her beauty is just a bonus and there is no way one can deprive her of the crown.
