According to Kafui Danku's official Instagram account, the Ghana Tourism Authority has served their venues of showing the long awaited movie "Freedom And Justice" with banned notice after they have sold 2,154 tickets across the country.
The movie was scheduled to be premiered in Accra and Tema on Friday, 25th December 2020 and Kumasi on Saturday 26th December, 2020.
Kafui Danku expressed great displeasure in Authorities and she attributed most of the blame on political interference and also the actors and the movie industry players from being to silent on issues like this.
This is what she wrote on her official Instagram page, "Waaaa look. But sandox is operating and people are doing parties. Parties everywhere but movie premiere can't hold. Arrant Nonsense! We have been too silent as actors and industry players. We have allowed it!! SMH".
After she was served with the warning letters, the police came with locker and locked the avenues for showing the movies but no letter was served to the producers of the movie. According to Kafui, they should have rather furnished the producers with letters before sending letters to their venues.
She added that, they will refund the monies paid by their cherished viewers in due course. They apologized to their cherished viewers but told them that, they will provide them with appropriate date on when the "Freedom and Justice" movie will be shown.
This triggered some Ghanaians to react that, it seems like we are living in an 'autocratic' country as political parties can hold their big campaigns with 100,000's of people but Ghanaians cannot operate their business with just 1000's of people.
Some Ghanaians also attributed the whole restrictions to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's preventive measures to combat the spread of Covid-19. Others also said that, if that is the case, they should compare what happened at campaign grounds of Nana Addo to movie night and it will show clearly that, what they did to Kafui is a clear 'sabotage'.
