Dr Dominic Ayine is a well-known figure in Ghanaian politics he was a member of the NDC legal team that suffered loss at the 2020 election petition hearing. He is regarded as one of the astute lawyers in Ghana. Many however know little of the story behind his success.
In an interview with Ayisha Ibrahim, the MP for Bolgatanga East shared some of his fond childhood memories that shaped his life. He spoke of how he was influenced by an enter with a catholic priest and this caused him to decide to become a reverend father. However, as the saying goes, many are the plans in a man’s heart, but the counsel of God is what stands, things got altered.
Before he got the chance to enter the seminary, her girlfriend broke the news to him that she was pregnant. That was a ball changer and it diverted his attention from what he wanted to be. “Before I could complete Lower Six, my girlfriend gave birth to my first son. I experimented and the whole experiment went wrong and he was born” Dr Ayine said.
According to him of the office of priesthood was a calling then the delivery of his son was ample evidence that he wasn’t called. “so that was how my priestly ambition ended. I was left with no option but to become a lawyer” he said.
