Accra or Kumerica; who laughs last?

The corona virus pandemic did not only impact world economies and brought the world’s most resilient nations to their feet. The dreaded ever mutating virus affected the world’s entertainment industries in a most negative way and Ghana’s entertainment industry is no stranger to this new development. As the country’s biggest names like Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Samini, Kofi Kinaata, Kwami Eugine among others lament over the lack of gigs hence a rather limited influx of funds, the entertainment industry’s new comers are making the best of the worst. In the Ashanti region of the country, a group of youngsters are raising the country’s flag higher and higher as they keep releasing hit after hit. Considering the silent rivalry between Kumasi and Accra, fans in Accra are tempted to feel a little poked by the sudden musical elevation of “Kumerica.”

However, Ghanaian music lovers within the Greater Accra region can relax a bit as there is still light at the end of the tunnel. As Africa’s most decorated rapper Sarkodie prepares to drop his “No pressure” Album, Ashaiman based Youngster Ebwoy Da Kingpin is coming hard with a single entitled “Do Again” and slated to be released on Monday the 10th of May 2021. Even though it is not yet clear if the High Grade, SM and Bhim camps will be feeding the fans any new tunes within this period, music enthusiasts can relax and content themselves with Sarkordie’s “No pressure” and Ebwoy Da Kingpin’s”Do again.”

Sarkodie’s “No Pressure” which is slated for release on the 9th of July 2021 is expected to solidify the most decorated African rapper’s place at the apex of the African rap pyramid. Ebwoy Da Kingpin on the other hand made it clear in a post on Facebook that his song “Do it Again” is structured to propel his music career to the top of the “Billboard.” At this juncture, it is clear that the Accra crew is having the last laugh at the moment or at least until Yaw Tog and co decide to respond with a classic drill music. Ghana is about to get a little hot musically and we can’t wait for the fun off it.

Everyone can now keep calm and enjoy the coming weeks of nonstop musical action.
