On the eighth of February 2018, in a small village called Nyamebekyere in the Ahafo Ano District of Ashanti, Ghana recorded one of the regrettable fatal death of the popular star Ebony Reigns.
The Hustle and "Maame Hwe" hitmaker Priscilla Kwarteng known in the music industry as Ebony left an indelible mark which still look fresh in our eyes, and memory owing to the high level performance she put up during 2017/2018 music season.
She overshadowed top musicians like Efya, Mz Vee, Adina, Samini, Sister Efya and the rest of Ghana's music stars with the exception of Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy whom she rubbed shoulders with in terms of high class performance, the amount of money she charged as well as the highest number of crowd she pulled during an electrifying performance.
On the 7th of February 2018, Ebony Reigns visited her mother at Sunyani with Her assistant and longtime friend Franklina Yaa Nkansah Kuri and soldier Atsu Vondee were also killed in the fatal gory accident.
Ebony brought a massive change to most of Ghanaian females especially with the "Maame Hwe" song which directly sensitized and enlighten Ghanaians with the traditional kente head gear called Ebony Duku which covers the hair of females as one of the decent local traditional dress
The song unravelled to Ghanaians the negative effect of abuse of which some men take women through in marriage and why women must be cautious with the kind of relationship they busily engage in.
Ebony Reign became a role model to Wendy Shay as the successor of Ebony in 2018 with her first release called "Ehwe".
Among the numerous songs she released was Hustle, "Konkonsa" police , Turn on the light, Kupe, Poison, Sponsor and many others which she won the artist of the year posthumously after Bullet her manager, Mr Kwarteng, and her mum stormed the event to grace the occasion
As fate may have it, Ebony retained the award in 2019 after the infamous brawl of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy during the award ceremony which made the organizers annul the winner of ‘Artiste of the Year’ and other topmost awards after for the rest of the evening.
The name Ebony became the fans favourite due to her style of singing and the rhythm as well as lyrics which made her to achieve a tremendous height.
Ebony Reigns was given a befitting state burial which saw numerous men of God like Lawrence Tetteh, Reverend Owusu Bempah and many other sympathizers.
