Lydia Forson is no stranger to controversy, particularly when it comes to matters concerning women's rights.
The actress has gotten harsh criticism in the past for her opinions on women empowerment in Ghanaian society since she is a feminist who does not shy away from voicing her views on gender roles and stereotypes.

Forson was born in Mankessim, Ghana, on October 24, 1984. Wilmore Elementary School in Kentucky was where she acquired her early education. Her family moved to Ghana when she was nine years old, and she continued her schooling at Akosombo International School. She also completed her senior school education at St. Louis Secondary School in Kumasi.
Forson earned a bachelor's degree in English Language and Information Studies from the University of Ghana.
