Omah Lay, a Nigerian musician, has spoken out about his battle with depression while working on his debut album.
In a series of tweets, the 'Infinity' singer admitted that he was having emotional problems and had considered suicide prior to the album's release.
Omah admitted in his tweets that his ex-girlfriend broke up with him at midnight, and the sadness nearly drove him insane.
Omah Lay stated that he witnessed people doubt and disrespect him, and that "people I used to look up to stopped showing me, love." I lost myself; perhaps I was just overthinking, I'm not sure."
"Boy Alone might be the last song you hear me sob too." I was hopelessly depressed, insecure, terrified, and on the verge of losing my mind when I recorded G. I was planning to commit suicide."
He also stated that having sexual relations with his therapists exacerbated his depression.
Omah Lay, on the other hand, claimed that after finishing the album's production and listening to it, his confidence returned.
This comes months after the singer ended his relationship with his ex. Omah Lay and his ex-girlfriend Gloria made their relationship public on Instagram in September 2021. The couple soon divorced due to rumours that she had cheated.
Meanwhile, Omah Lay stated that his music provided him with a new perspective on life.
He went on to say that once the Boy Alone record was listed, he was released and one of the top artists in African music.
