All African Artistes Nominated For The 64th Grammy Awards 2022

Eight African musicians have received nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards which is expected to take place in Los Angeles on Monday, January 31.

Below are the names of the musicians, their country and the specific album or song that earned them the Grammy Nomination.

The artists include Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Femi Kuti, Made Kuti, Angélique Kidjo, Rocky Dawuni and Black Coffee.

1) Wizkid/Tems (Nigeria) - Best Global Music Performance - Essence

2) Femi Kuti ( Nigeria) - Best global performance - Pà Pá Pà 

3) Wizkid (Nigeria ) - Best global music album - Made in Lagos 

4) Femi Kuti & Made Kuti (Nigeria)- Best global music album - Legacy+ 

5) Angelique Kidjo/Burna Boy (Benin/Nigeria) - Best global music album - Mother nature

6) Rocky Dawumi - Best global music album - Voice of Bunbon volume Ghana

7) Black Coffee - Best Dance/Electronic album - Subconsciously South Africa.

8) Yo-Yo Ma & Angélique Kidjo – Best global music performance- Blewu Benin

9) Angélique Kidjo & Burna Boy (Benin/Nigeria)– Best global music performance - Do Yourself

The Grammy Award, or just Grammy, is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize achievement in the music industry of the United States.

Before the 2020 Grammys, 'Best Global Music Album' was known as the 'Best World Music Album' category.

2013: The category for that year got two winners Gipsy Kings with Savor Flamenco and Ladysmith Black Mambazo with their live performance of 'Singing For Peace Around The World.'

2012; Ravi Shankar won with 'The Living Room Sessions Part 1'

2011: Tinariwen with 'Tassili'.
