Artists put in their best day in day out to ensure that their audiences get the best of their tunes. Sometimes, they get anxious as to how their music is performing in terms of numbers, compared to that of their colleagues or even artists new to the game. They may thus opt to boost their views either organically (through a promotion) or inorganically (through buying of views to inflate figures).
Critics of Stonebwoy have taken the time and energy to inquire about his recently inflated views on his new published songs. Per the statistics provided by the streaming platforms, all fingers point at Stonebwoy going the inorganic route.
Ghanaians thus made this subject matter on the various social media platforms as they trolled him with memes.
One user comments that, Stonebwoy is indeed very good, however, his only drawback is that he always wants to brag and use achievements to boost his ego.
Others also teased him by saying that he is now the greatest artiste in India, of which many reacted laughing.
Metrics are a way through which people use to tell and judge performance. Boosting streams and downloads organically is good as it lets musicians invest more in their music and also push it out there. However, simply buying views spoils from the fun of judging a song by its numbers as there is no trust or certainty that the metrics being seen are original or inflated.
When Yaw Tog achieved the 1 Million Views in 3 days, it became the talk of the town as it was seen as a hard earned achievement, however, with new allegations that Stonebwoy purchased his views, there would be less trust in those metrics again.
It will also go in a way to affect Stonebwoy's brand as should any of his musical projects come out further, an increased viewership would even be tagged as bought and the due acknowledgement he deserves won't be given to him.
